Nakiri-Inspired Kitchen Knife with a High Carbon Steel Blade and Sheaok Handle - 8" (349)

$260.00

This is a Nakiri-inspired knife with a beautiful Sheoak handle and a High Carbon Steel blade with an interesting patina.

The blade is 7“ long, which is about 18cm, and it is 2.2mm thick at its thickest point - which makes it a relatively thin blade for a large knife. This means you will be able to use it for fine work with ease.

High Carbon Steel blades, in my opinion, are best for people who understand what it is like to have a High Carbon Steel blade. My favourite analogy goes like this. Giving someone one of these knives is like giving someone a puppy for Christmas. When the novelty wears off, you may want to take the puppy back (heaven forbid!!!!), because it is a pain in the neck and a lot of work - you can’t just play with it and put it away and forget about it. Having said that, if you know what you are getting yourself into and are prepared to do the work, a puppy can bring a lot of joy. In the case of one of these knives, it is important to understand they rust easily, must be cleaned and dried meticulously, and benefit from being oiled after use. And of course, the upside is you have a beautiful sexy knife that you may well grow to love.

I would like to bring to your attention that the patina on one side of the blade is different. to the other. Over time, this will even out.

The Sheoak wood used in this knife comes from Australia. I went there to visit friends and one of them gave me the wood from their farm. I split and cut it from a log and treated it before flying out.

The bolster is made from olive wood from where I used to live in Andalucia.

The price includes delivery by courier to North America, EU countries and Australia. UK delivery is by Royal Mail. Your knife will be despatched from England.
